Deutsche Bank named two new heads for its corporate finance business in German-speaking Europe. The Frankfurt-based bank wants to advance to Europe's leading investment bank again.

Patrick Frowein and Berthold Fuerst (pictured below) have been appointed co-heads of corporate finance for Germany, Switzerland and Austria, Deutsche Bank said in a statement.

The two will be tasked with improving Deutsche's relationships and sale of strategic investment banking products and advice to large corporate clients.

«A strong base in our home market is essential if we are to re-establish our position as the leading corporate and investment banking business across Europe,» Deutsche Bank said in a statement.

New CIB Leadership

Both Frowein and Fuerst have held leadership roles at Deutsche's investment bank previously. Frowein, who began his career at SBC Warburg and later worked at UBS, was most recently co-head of global industrials at Deutsche's investment bank.

Fuerst, a 20-year-veteran of Deutsche Bank, was most recently co-head of mergers and acquisitions in Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

The appointments come shortly after former Bear Stearns and J.P. Morgan banker Jeff Urwin took over at Deutsche's corporate and investment banking unit, dubbed CIB, earlier this year.

Frowein and Fuerst will report to Alasdair Warren, head of the unit in EMEA.
