Switzerland's biggest life insurer has to find a new chief financial officer for its Swiss business unit. The current CFO will quit the job at the end of September.

Martin Suter, chief financial officer of Swiss Life Switzerland, is leaving the company after 16 years. A spokesman confirmed that Suter has decided to depart, as was reported by «AWP» earlier today. The company has not yet named a successor.

Suter, 55, was Swiss Life CFO for Switzerland from 2006 to 2012 and took a sabbatical in the following year. He returned to the management board after his time-out and became responsible for strategic projects. On July 1, 2013, he assumed the CFO mantle again and managed the unit's finances.

Credit Suisse, UBS

Suter had joined the company in 1999 as head of mathematics development and was named responsible for product management in 2004, joining the management board in Switzerland.

The mathematician, trained at ETH Zurich, had started his career at Credit Suisse in 1990, where he worked in quantitative analysis and risk management. In 1994, he joined the big rival UBS, where he concentrated on pricing and risk management.

After three years at Switzerland's No. 1, he switched to PriceWaterhouseCoopers. As senior consultant he worked on banking and corporate treasury projects.
