Following the abrupt departure of its CEO in Switzerland in July, Saxo Bank had entrusted the day-to-day management of its branch to the general counsel on an ad interim basis. The bank now has appointed him on a permanent basis.

The supervisory board of Saxo Bank Switzerland has appointed Patrick Hunger as its new chief executive officer, the company said in a statement today.

Hunger had assumed the role in July after his predecessor, Antonio Ferrante, departed after a little less than two years in the job.

Seasoned General Counsel

Hunger, 46, joined the Danish bank at the beginning of the year as general counsel and member of the executive of its Swiss unit. Before accepting the job at Saxo, Hunger had worked for Credit Suisse Trust, also as general counsel and member of the executive.

His previous employers were UBS Investment Bank and the Swiss National Bank. The lawyer also has an Executive Master of INSEAD, the French elite university in Fontainebleau.

Set to Expand in Switzerland

Apart from Hunger, the Saxo executive in Switzerland is made up of the managers: Michael Voellm (CFO), Raj Mehra (COO) and Neil Browning (head of commercial).

With Patrick Hunger, his management team and the committed members of staff we are well placed to expand our position in the Swiss market further,» said Steen Blaafalk, the chairman of Saxo Bank Switzerland and member of the management board of Saxo Bank Group.
