finews.ch published a report on the symposium of the «stars» foundation currently being held in the Swiss town of Stein am Rhein. The article makes a number of conjectures and allegations that have nothing to do with the presentations made by Siong Guan Lim.

The report refers to a lecture delivered by Mr. Siong Guan Lim , President of the Government of Singapore Investment Corporationon (GIC) the topic of leadership and ethics.

«stars» organizes symposia in which prominent leaders from politics, the economy, science and civic society present their personal views on a wide range of topics, mainly issues that are of interest to young leaders that prepare for future tasks in their respective companies and organizations.

Amongst the keynote speakers are personalities like Joe Jimenez, CEO of Novartis, Peter Maurer, President of the International Committee of the Red Cross, Axel Weber, President of the board of directors of UBS, Sir John Rose, former Chief Executive of Rolls-Royce, and many others.

It is the declared format of the symposia that every speaker expresses his personal opinion and never refers to his professional engagements in a specific company. Mr. Lim is a member of the international board of «stars».

He has been very active promoting issues of leadership, a topic on which he has widely published. Obviously, Mr. Lim profits from his wide experience in leading positions in Singapore’s civil service and at the helm of GIC.

Everybody knows that GIC is a major shareholder in UBS. When stating his criticism of a lack of leadership afflicting many companies in the financial sector Mr. Lim never referred to any specific company.

Being at a helm of an organization that is a benchmark for sustainable and responsible investment, Mr. Lim in his private capacity as a responsible citizen of Singapore and the world has the duty to deal with major issues of leadership.

The Board of the «stars» foundation deems it of huge value that persons in high positions and with heavy duties take the time and make the effort to educate young leaders. Responsible journalism should respect this engagement and report on these issues responsibly and accurately.
