Edmond de Rothschild said it has hired a new branding and marketing chief, part of a strategy to make better use of the cachet of the family which controls the Swiss bank.

The Geneva-based bank said it has hired Robert Jenkins as head of brand and marketing, with a focus on digital platforms.

The 55-year-old Jenkins was hired from BNP Paribas, where he was head of branding and communications in Paris for the private bank.

He reports to Ariane de Rothschild, CEO of Edmond de Rothschild, and will join top management.

Rothschild Brand Power

«His considerable experience in harnessing the power of the brand to help drive change in international financial groups will be very valuable, as we pursue our ambitious strategy to build a business that better meets the needs of our clients,» CEO de Rothschild said in a statement.

Family-owned banks like Zurich-based Rothschild & Co – which is not linked to the Geneva-based Edmond de Rothschild bank – have been successful with clients in parlaying their family ties to wealthy clients.

Prior to BNP, Jenkins spent eight years with Barclays Global Investors, now Blackrock.
