UBS has found a new manager for the further development of blockchain, replacing Alex Batlin, who recently resigned from his position.

Peter Stephens 160Peter Stephens (pictured left) is the new head of blockchain at UBS, Switzerland’s largest bank, according to an internal memo made available to finews.com.

UBS has been at UBS since 2003 and in Hong Kong for the past eight years. His most recent position was chief technology officer for Asia-Pacific.

Return to London

Stephens will now return to London, where he will pick up his new task in November. He will report to Veronica Lange, head of innovation.

Before joining the Swiss bank, Stephens worked for IBM and PwC as a financial-services consultant.

Stephens predecessor, Alex Batlin, in August surprised with his departure. He has taken a new job at U.S. asset manager BNY Mellon.
