UBS boss or high-fashion model? Sergio Ermotti shows his regal side after a luxury publication voted him «Man of the Year».

Sergio Ermotti is «Luxe» magazine's «Man of the Year in Business», chosen by a jury of media, culture and business representatives in a annual series sponsored by Louis Vuitton.

The 56-year-old UBS boss revealed his own luxurious side in the accompany photo spread, alongside others including race-car driver Sebastien Buemi, who formerly competed in Formula 1 racing and moved to Formula E two years ago, and Dieter Meier, one half of 1980s electronic band «Yello» who recently took Berlin by storm with their first live shows.

While Ermotti was prickly and sensitive about being reduced to his impeccably-cut Italian suits and dapper appearance when he took to helm at UBS five years ago, he has come full circle now.

Brooding, Mysterious

«Marie-Claire» fashion photographer Sylvie Roche has snapped Ermotti in brooding black-and-white, looking out mysteriously as he ties his necktie. Luxury watch on his wrist and salt-and-pepper hair loosely styled, the Ermotti fits the stereotype of of dashing Italian businessman perfectly.

Ermotti, who is independently wealthy from years as a London investment banker, originally planned to become a physical education teacher – preferably a ski instructor – until an apprenticeship at a Ticino bank convinced him otherwise.

Fast-forward forty-one years to 2016, and Ermotti is one of Switzerland's highest-paid and most-respected CEOs – as well as a fashion model.
