Not long ago, Deutsche Bank moved him into a top job. He nevertheless has now decided to join the UBS investment bank, where he will report directly to Andrea Orcel.

Michael Santini is joining UBS and will act as vice chairman of its investment bank starting in the new year, according to an internal memo seen by the «Wall Street Journal» (behind paywall). Santini will report to UBS investment banking boss Andrea Orcel.

The manager will be responsible for the development of the bank's client relationships, focusing on companies and private-equity firms globally. He will also take a seat on the executive committee of UBS Americas.

Past at Deutsche and Bank of America

Santini joins from Deutsche Bank where he was made vice chairman of corporate finance recently. Previously he was the co-head of industrial investment-banking at Deutsche, which he had joined in 2009.

The banker advised companies such as General Electric, Danaher and Marriot International. Before joining the German bank, he had worked for Bank of America for 15 years, in similar positions.

First Foresman, Now Santini

The UBS investment bank has now made two appointments for vice chairman this year. First it hired Bob Foresman at the end of September.
