Two Swiss cantonal banks will pool their resources to boost their digital services and intend to develop into a leading provider of financial services online.

Schwyzer Kantonalbank (SZKB) and Walliser Kantonalbank (WKB) have signed a cooperation agreement on the use and development of digital banking services, the companies said in a statement today.

Digital Mortgage Selling

WKB will start offering the services of e-hypo.ch, a tool developed by SZKB and aimed at home owners, the banks said. The two will also jointly further the development of the digital services and thus intend to become a leading provider of such online financial services. The banks will implement the agreed pact over the course of this year.

They will also jointly promote and develop e-hypo.ch to make use of synergies, the two cantonal banks said.

SZKB launched e-hypo.ch in 2014 and since continuously developed the service. It is a tool for home owners who need a new mortgage or want to extend an existing mortgage. Customers are able to acquire a mortgage online and thus profit from better conditions.

Ideal Partners

«In SZKB, we have found the ideal cooperation partner,» said Pascal Perruchoud, the CEO of Walliser Kantonalbank. «It makes better economic sense to jointly operate an existing platform than create a new brand altogether.»

Both partners will continue to book the mortgages they generate via the platform separately.
