A veteran financial expert at Swiss wealth manager Aquila is departing, finews.com has learned. She plans to set up a family office.

Sibylle Peter, who helped define the development of Swiss wealth manager Aquila in the last six years, will leave the firm founded by Max Cotting at the end of November, finews.com has learned.

Sibylle Peter 160She had been a member of top management, and responsible for investment services. Peter also organized an annual wealth manager event (in German) for Aquila.

She told finews.com that she is striking out on her own in order to found a family office for a Swiss family in December. The family office, to be based in Zurich, will eventually be open to third parties. 

Peter didn't disclose which family is backing the new firm.

Independent Platform

She may continue to consult for Aquila on certain mandates, Peter said. The 17-year-old firm offers a platform to independent asset managers – 63 of them currently, Cotting told finews.com

Since 2012, Aquila has also operated a bank which serves as custodian for the platform's independent asset managers. The firm can also provide management, coordination and control functions for its asset managers.
