J. Safra Sarasin hired a former BSI manager to take charge of its branch in Lugano. One of his main tasks will be to take care of the Italian business.

Roberto BottaJ. Safra Sarasin, the private bank controlled by Joseph Safra and family, appointed Roberto Botta (pictured left) as new branch manager in Lugano, the financial market capital in Switzerland Italian-speaking region of Ticino.

Botta and his team are charged with developing the domestic, Italian and international activities based in Lugano, the company said in a statement today.

BSI Veteran

Botta, 55, most recently was a director at Banca della Svizzera Italiana in Lugano and Milan. He was responsible for the Italian market at the bank, which recently was acquired by EFG International. Botta will be able to use his network at his new employer.

The new branch manager will have two deputies, Pascal Paltenghi, who’s been with J. Safra Sarasin for more than a decade, and Fabio Bortoli, who joined recently.
