Swiss Life has hired a manager from France’s AXA to fill the soon to be vacant position of chief executive officer at the German business unit.

Swiss Life appointed Joerg Arnold, 52, to manage its German unit, the company said in a statement today. He will start his job as CEO Germany on July 1, 2017. He will also become member of the executive board of the Swiss life insurer.

Arnold replaces Markus Leibundgut, who earlier was appointed as CEO Swiss Life Switzerland, starting on April 1, 2017.

25 Years of Experience

Arnold currently works in Paris, at AXA Group. He is the global head of savings, retirement and distribution at the French insurance company. Arnold has been active in the industry for a quarter of a century. He was head of sales at Deutsche Aerzteversicherung, before taking over as CEO for the period from 2010 to 2013.
