For centuries, Lombard Odier has had its headquarters at a landmark property on Geneva’s Rue de la Corraterie – in the very heart of the city of Calvin. Now, the private bank announced it will break with history and move to a cutting-edge building on the outskirts of the city.

«Symbolizing the bank of tomorrow with its resolutely contemporary architecture, this new building will offer a work environment which promotes exchange, innovation and performance,» said Patrick Odier, senior managing partner of Lombard Odier, in a statement today.

The bank in June will launch an international architecture competition. The winning project is due to be presented by the end of 2017.

Lombard Odier is also planning to renovate its historic headquarters on Rue de la Corraterie. The building after the refurbishment will be used for receptions and various events, the bank said.

Close to the Airport, Train Station, Motorway

The new headquarters will be built in Bellevue on a plot of 27,400 square meters. The site is close to the Les Tuileries railway station and also close to the main motorway, offering perfect access by train, car and aircraft. It takes a mere five minutes by car to reach the city’s Cointrin airport from the site.

The building, slated for completion in 2021/2022, will accommodate as many as 2,600 workstations, more than enough for the banks’ current Geneva-based staff of 1,900. Lombard Odier today operates six sites in the region.

Strengthen Collaboration Within the Bank

«Our aim is to build a new head office, which blends harmoniously with its surroundings, providing our staff with a stimulating, pleasant working environment to suit today's new ways of working,» said Patrick Odier (pictured above). «This building must also meet the highest standards of sustainable development and employ the most efficient technology available, particularly in terms of energy saving.»

The new headquarters will combine flexibility with technological innovation and will also strengthen the synergies and collaboration between the group's various divisions, the bank added.
