Some athletes are more money-savvy than others. Boxing champion Floyd Mayweather loves money – and is riding the cryptocurrency wave.

«I'm gonna make a $hit t$n of money,» Floyd Mayweather predicted in an Instagram post last month – twice. The 40-year-old is cashing in this Saturday night, when he faces Irish MMA fighter Conor McGregor in a much-vaunted Las Vegas match. And again with a so-called initial coin offering, or ICO, of Stox.com.

Both predictions will come true: the total fight purse is $400 million – and Mayweather will cash in $300 million no matter who wins. The boxer also proved correct with his second prediction: Stox's ICO took in $30 million – though it is unclear how much, or even how, Mayweather earned off it.

Apparently his ICO shout-out was successful: Mayweather just advertised for another offering. This time, he shilled for Hubli Network, a media platform based on blockchain.

Among Richest Athletes

Mayweather ranks among the world's best-paid athletes, even as it emerged recently that he asked U.S. tax officials for a stay until after the McGregor fight to pay a reported $29 million in back taxes.

His net worth is estimated at $500 million. To underscore the point, the boxer – undefeated in 49 matches – has a habit of posing with cash, earning him the nickname Floyd «Money» Mayweather.

But now he has shed the «Money» moniker in favor of another one: Floyd «Crypto» Mayweather. How long he keeps that nickname depends on how successful Hubli's ICO is. In any event, Mayweather is guaranteed to earn a «$hit t$n of money».
