Zurich Insurance Group has appointed a new chief risk officer. The company has been able to attract an executive from Swiss Re to take the position.

Zurich Insurance Group has named Alison Martin as its new group chief risk officer. Martin will join the company in October and take up her role as CRO in January 2018, the company said in a statement on its Website. Martin takes the job of Cecilia Reyes, who decided to leave the company.

Reyes will introduce Martin to her new duties and depart in the first quarter of next year. Reyes was appointed CRO in 2015, when she followed in the footsteps of Axel Lehmann, who opted to join UBS.

Long Spells at Swiss Re, PwC

Martin, a 43-year-old citizen of the U.K. spent 14 years at Swiss Re, the world’s second-largest reinsurer. For the past four years, she was head of life and health business management. Previously, she was in charge of the life and health products division and was CFO of Swiss Re Life & Health.

She is a chartered accountant and spent eight years working in audit and advisory roles at PwC. The appointment of Martin is subject to regulatory approval.
