Basler Kantonalbank wants to grow and become more digital: the Swiss bank today published its plans for the coming years and said what it will do to attain the goals it set itself.

Basler Kantonalbank (BKB) presented a series of new targets for 2018 through 2021 and projects that are designed to help the bank reach those goals, according to a statement published today. BKB will launch new product offerings for business and private clients, including a dedicated site for small- and medium-sized companies, start advising clients via video-link, and develop digital banking solutions.

The bank will spend more than 10 million francs every year to develop the new products and to attain its goals. The focus of BKB will be on the banks strong capital base. The bank aims to have a total capital ratio of at least 17.3 percent by 2021.

BKB, which is based in Basel, also aims to improve efficiency and to promote and develop the skills of its employees as well as the diversity among staff.

Separate Targets for Bank Cler

BKB also set the targets for Bank Cler, the unit that once was known as Bank Coop. BKB wants the unit to develop into a digital bank with country-wide physical presence in urban centers.

Bank Cler will grow faster than the market and therefore increase its market share substantially, Sandra Lienhart, the CEO of Bank Cler, said in a separate statement. Lienhart has been in charge of Bank Cler since June. The bank will develop the traditional banking services, while at the same invest into the digital transformation.
