Julius Baer CEO Boris Collardi added a compliance and regulatory expert to the executive team of the Zurich-based private bank. And he also appointed a deputy CEO to support him in the implementation of the bank’s strategy.

Oliver Bartholet will take up his role as chief risk officer at Julius Baer in April 2018, the bank said in a statement today. As CRO, Bartholet will also be a member of the company’s executive board.

Bartholet is taking the position of Bernhard Hodler, who held the job since 2001. Hodler will remain a member of the executive and assume the position of deputy CEO. As such, Hodler will support the implementation of strategic projects and continue leading the credit business.

Second Career in Banking

Bartholet is head legal group regulatory & governance at UBS. He launched his banking career in 1995, having previously worked in the public sector. At Switzerland’s largest bank, he held several managerial positions, including as global head of tax and general counsel of wealth management & Swiss bank.

The banker holds a Ph.D. from the School of Law at University of Basel and also is a chartered financial analyst. He is an attorney at law and a member of the International Bar Association.
