A veteran banking analyst with more than 25 years experience examining Swiss banks is leaving Kepler Chevreux for a Swiss private bank.

Casanova 160Peter Casanova (pictured, left) joins Julius Baer next month as a buy-side analyst, finews.com has learned. At the Swiss private bank, which confirmed the move, the veteran equity analyst will cover investment banks and insurance.

Casanova has covered banks and insurance at Kepler Chevreux for the last three years. His moves comes as brokers like Kepler grapple with new European rules – MiFID II – which price research rather than folding them into trading costs.

Previously, the CFA-registered finance professional ran stock research for Bank Sarasin & Cie. Casanova left that bank three years after it was swallowed by Brazil's private bank J. Safra. He has also worked as a sell-side analyst for Luzerner Kantonalbank, where he headed research, Bank Vontobel, UBS and Deutsche Bank.
