Axa Winterthur appointed the head of property and casualty as its new CEO, as successor of Antimo Perretta. The new CEO was already in charge ad interim following the promotion of Perretta.

Fabrizio Petrillo, 48, was appointed chief executive officer of the Swiss business of Axa, the French insurance group, the company said in a statement today. Petrillo follows in the footsteps of Antimo Perretta, who was moved to the group level to take over as head of Europe.

Petrillo, the current head of property and casualty, was chief financial officer of Axa Winterthur for four years through 2016.

French Degree

The new CEO of Switzerland’s largest insurance company has a past at Swiss Life, where worked in the advisory business. A Swiss with roots in Italy, Petrillo studied physics at ETH Zurich and also gained a master’s degree in business administration at the French elite university Insead in Fontainebleau.

Petrillo will assume his new position in January 2018. His appointment requires regulatory approval.

Biggest Swiss Insurer

Axa Winterthur has 4,000 members of staff, with 2,500 external staff working at 276 agencies across the country. Axa Winterthur had a business volume of 11 billion Swiss francs in 2016.
