Switzerland is benefiting from crypto oversight that one participant called «sufficient, but nothing too crazy.» Does it need more, and will we see more?

I think Switzerland's on the right track: conditions are generally favorable for blockchain and crypto firms, and a lot of international talent is coming to Switzerland and is taking care that the industry's black sheep don't follow.

«Other hubs catching up on Switzerland»

Now, we have to use the current momentum to keep moving forward – other hubs are beginning to catch up and recognize the fundamental potential of blockchain on our economy and society.

Do you envisage crypto and traditional finance in Switzerland coexisting, supplanting, competing – or another relationship?

So far, there's few touch-points between the new crypto world and the traditional and established world of banking, but this will change very soon. Unlike with many areas of fintech, the effects blockchain-based applications and cryptocurrencies are simply too big for established finance to ignore.

The crypto finance conference doesn’t include any representatives from traditional finance, either Swiss or international banking. Why?

In choosing our speakers, we took care to highlight well-known personalities from the crypto world and from established crypto investment funds and exciting ICOs in particular. Our conference is also aimed at investors, and no advisors or other services are allowed – all participants had to apply and were thoroughly evaluated by the conference organizers.

«Potent investors looking for new world opportunities»

The audience will be made up of not entirely unknown players from the traditional investing world. We can in good conscience say that this is the first gathering of such high-profile and potent investors focused on crypto investments, and we are looking forward to the exchange between the new and old (crypto) world next week in St. Moritz.

finews.com will report from the Crypto Finance Conference, which takes place from January 17 to 19 in St. Moritz. The event is aimed at international investors and seeks to raise awareness of blockchain, cryptocurrencies, and other new investment ideas. Swiss economics minister Johann Schneider-Ammann will visit the conference on January 18.

Marc Bernegger is a long-time fintech and crypto investor. Last year, he joined the board of Falcon Private Bank and is also a director of Zug-based Crypto Finance, which plans to launch a cryptocurrency investment fund.
