The Swiss private bank is pushing further into British wealth management with a new hire in a U.K. millionaire's hot spots.

The Zurich-based private bank last year flagged plans to expand its British presence far beyond the obvious – London. In August, Julius Baer said it planned to open branches as far afield as Belfast, Manchester and Leeds in a hiring and expansion push.

Under the recruiting drive, the bank has hired 20 new employees in Britain, mainly private bankers and wealth planners. On Wednesday, Julius Baer said it plans to keep bulking up in the outposts this year.

To that end, the bank has poached Calum Brewster from Barclays wealth to head its regional offices in England. Based in Edinburgh, Brewster will report to David Durlacher, who runs the Swiss bank's U.K. arm. The Scottish banker previously worked for Lloyds and Scottish Widows.
