Baloise insurance is taking more of its digital services to the European market: it will launch a platform for a range of services for car owners in Belgium.

Mobly, Baloise’ mobility platform, will open «Mobly Go» and «Mobly Car Expert» in Belgium, Baloise said in a statement today. «Mobly Go» is providing assistance to car owners similar to the services provided by makers of high-quality cars such as Volvo. Mobly will provide the services to owners of all brands and even for second-hand cars.

The expert offering by contrast is a service for prospective buyers of a second-hand cars. Given the lower margins in this segment, most existing platforms leave it to buyers to organize expertise, which can be difficult to obtain. «Mobly Car Expert» provides an expert, who examines the car, verifies the price asked and makes a security assessment.

Exceeding Expectations

Baloise operates three digital platforms. Apart from the mobility services, the insurer also operates the Friday digital insurer – a Berlin-based startup financed by Baloise – as well as Movu, a relocation provider. Baloise said it is satisfied with the traffic so far and said that Friday exceeded its expectations.

«Friday's digital insurance policies, which can be taken out in 90 seconds and cancelled from month to month, have struck a chord,» said Gert De Winter, CEO of Baloise. «Friday is thus fully on course to achieve its aim of becoming Germany's most popular digital insurer.»
