A Lausanne-based broker has poached an executive from the world's largest interdealer broker to lead a push into Zurich. The move follows the Swiss firm's expansion into Scandinavia.

Gottex Brokers is opening a second office in Switzerland this spring in Zurich, the interbank and institutional broker said in a statement on Tuesday. The 30-year-old firm is hiring Jan Harms away from London's Icap to lead the Zurich office.

The Lausanne-based firm began expanding to Oslo and Stockholm two years ago, together with another broker, Compagnie Financière Tradition.  Zurich is next: Gottex said the branch is in response to client demand, and will offer a platform to expand the firm's products in commodities and short-dated derivatives. Harms will report to Gérald Volck, Gottex partner and broker head.
