A relatively young wealth firm specialized in trusts is hanging out its shingle in Switzerland, in a bid for business with Zurich's super-rich.

Zurich's Gartenstrasse, minutes away from the banking epicenter at Paradeplatz, is home to a host of finance firms. Another one is poised to join them: Zedra, specialized in fund, corporate and trust services, is about to open up shop next to HSBC und Globalance Bank, according to a statement.

The firm was founded two years ago but already maintains 15 branches with the Zurich launch as well as one in Geneva. Zedra has offices in Asia, the U.S., London, Luxembourg, the Netherlands as well as other offshore centers like the Cayman Islands, Guernsey, Jersey and the Isle of Man.

How did Zedra grow so quickly? The firm is Barclays' former global trust business, which the wealthy Nielsen and Sarikhani families bought in 2016 and began expanding. Stuart McLukie is head of Zedra in Switzerland and former Intertrust Group executive Vadim Neumann (pictured, left) will run the Zurich branch.
