A global online bank is moving right into the center of Swiss banking. The U.K.-based company is opening its second branch in Switzerland.

IG Bank Switzerland on Wednesday opened a branch on Paradeplatz 4, the epicenter of Swiss banking with the headquarters of UBS and Credit Suisse, according to a statement released by the company today (release in German).

The company, founded in 1974, opened its first Swiss branch in 2014 in Geneva. IG Bank is specialized in online trading of derivatives.

Responding to Demand

IG Bank is part of IG Group, which is listed on the London Stock Exchange. With the new branch, the company is responding to demand from customers, it said.

«Since our entry to the Swiss market, we have seen steady growth,» said Fouad Bajjali, head of Switzerland. «We see an increasing demand from customers in the German-speaking part of Switzerland who want to personally meet our specialists.»
