Ethos has found two candidates to replace the departing chairman, Dominique Biedermann, in his dual roles at the top of the lobby group for socially responsible investing.

At the beginning of 2018, Dominique Biedermann announced that he was to step down as chairman of Ethos, the foundation known for its opposition against excessive executive pay. Ethos is composed of 228 Swiss pension funds and other tax-exempt institutions. It was founded in 1997.

Biedermann’s decision came after disagreements within the organization and accusations of having accumulated too much power in his own hands, being the remaining founder of the group. The foundation at its annual general meeting on June 14 will thus need to replace Biedermann, who held dual presidencies of the Ethos Foundation and the Ethos Services, a company aimed at institutional investors.

The Two Successors

Ethos proposes two candidates for the two positions, the foundation said in a statement on its website. It has selected Rudolf Rechsteiner as chairman of the foundation and Beth Krasna as head of Ethos Services.

Rechsteiner was a national lawmaker for the Socialist Party from 1995 through 2010 and is known for his expertise in renewable energies. Krasna is a chemical engineer, member of the board at retailer Coop, ETH Zurich and Symbiotics, a micro-finance firm.
