Julius Baer has appointed a new head of its business with independent asset managers in Zurich, part of a push to expand outside of private banking.

Michel YigitJulius Baer said it has appointed Michel Yigit (pictured at left) as its new head of intermediaries Zurich and global custody, effective immediately. He will be responsible for business with independent asset managers in Zurich as well as the global custody business in Switzerland, the Swiss private bank said on Tuesday. He reports to Swiss boss Gian Rossi.

Yigit has been with Julius Baer since 2015 and has developed the bank's business with independent asset managers in the U.K. before returning to Zurich and building up business development and consulting. Previously, he held similar roles at UBS.
