Vontobel is expanding its distribution network for structured products and added a further Swiss bank as an issuer to its platform.

Vontobel and Basler Kantonalbank have agreed a technology and distribution partnership to expand the client business with structured investment products, the Zurich-based private bank said in a statement on Wednesday.

The cantonal bank will become the seventh issuer to use the digital deritrade distribution platform provided by Vontobel. The partnership allows a third party to issue structured investment products under its own brand name, making the deal a first for Vontobel.

Production Launch in July

The implementation of the partnership is at an advanced stage and production is scheduled to be launched in July, with an initial four types of products on equities, Vontobel said.

«Vontobel has been investing systematically in digitalizing the structured investment products business for many years, and it can now provide exactly the right product for every client or portfolio,» said Roger Studer, head of Vontobel investment banking.
