Swiss banks are brimming with self-confidence. But the world around them – and the finance industry – is undergoing rapid change. Here are 33 signs that a bank isn’t moving with the times.

Switzerland’s banks are satisfied with their profits and capital strength, and are sitting on apparently high client assets. Perhaps however they aren’t aware that these very customers are turning to other institutions for their new business. This check list from «The Bank Blog» (in German) could indicate what a bank needs to change.

1. The headquarters of your bank is still a marble-clad ivory tower in one of the top city addresses.

2. Your bank still hasn’t realized it needs to help its clients with their financial affairs rather than trying to control their costs.

3. Your bank is spending more on building new and renovating old branches than on digital innovation.

4. Your bank is constantly opening new «flagship» branches which look like Apple stores. Only the Apple stores are well frequented, the bank branches not.
