J.P. Morgan

Jamie Dimon arguably has completed the biggest U-turn of them all: he first went on record that he would fire any member of staff trading in bitcoin. A little later, he retreated and the bank now has a team that probes the potential of cryptocurrencies.

Morgan Stanley

Morgan Stanley in June hired a head of digital asset markets. What makes this particularly interesting is that Andrew Peel will work in Zurich. He used to be vice president at sales & trading innovation at Credit Suisse.

The appointment clearly shows that the bank is looking into the potential of cryptocurrencies, is building a knowledge base and evaluates potential business opportunities. Nothing has become public about whether the bank wants to start trading in cryptos, but the company is known to execute such transactions in the name of its clients.
