Credit Suisse has sacked two London bankers following a renewed investigation into eight-year-old assault allegations brought by a female staffer, finews.com has learned.

The Swiss bank has let go two unnamed bankers at its London office, a source familiar with the matter told finews.com. The two were connected to an 2010 incident in which a female banker was touched inappropriately and kissed by a senior banker during an event outside the bank with colleagues.

The incident is one of several arising in investment banking following the emergence of the #metoo movement. The woman left Credit Suisse shortly after the alleged incident, but appealed to CEO Tidjane Thiam earlier this year in a letter. Her letter sparked a renewed probe into the incident itself and encouraged an UBS banker who accused a colleague of raping her to come forward.

Reheating Probe

Credit Suisse didn't comment on the sacking of two of its bankers, which was first reported by the «Financial Times» on Thursday. The bank ordered the eight-year-old accusations to be re-investigated under compliance boss Lara Warner (pictured below). The 2018 probe found the two dismissed bankers to have misled and obstructed an investigation.

The case has parallels to the dismissal last month of an mergers-and-acquisitions banker who reportedly browbeat an intern at a party hosted by Credit Suisse. Last month, the bank appointed Antoinette Poschung, a veteran human resources executive of the bank, to a new role to fight sexual harassment in the workplace.
