Swiss Life has hired a new top manager for its asset management unit. The new sales boss used to be chief executive at Amundi Switzerland.

Starting in January of 2019, Marius Wuergler will become head of sales and marketing at Swiss Life Asset Managers, the asset management division at the Swiss life insurer.

In this new position based in Zurich, Wuergler will develop and implement the distribution strategy of the division across the company’s markets, according to the statement released on Friday.

Wuergler will be a member of the executive board of Swiss Life Asset Managers and report to Stefan Maechler, group CIO of Swiss Life.

Long Career in Asset Management

Wuergler has a strong pedigree in Swiss asset management, with a number of high-profile jobs under his name. He was the CEO of Amundi Switzerland for the past one-and-a-half years. Previously, he was head of sales Europe at Lombard Odier investment management for three years and country head at Goldman Sachs asset management for seven years.

He started his career as a portfolio manager at Credit Suisse asset management.
