After his departure as chief executive of Swiss Life Switzerland, Ivo Furrer concentrated on a new career as board member – for instance at Julius Baer. He has just been elected to represent a cross-industry association.

Digital Switzerland, which strives to strengthen the country’s position as a digital hub, has elected Ivo Furrer as chairman. Furrer, 61, replaces Christian Wenger. Furrer was head of Swiss Life Switzerland until his departure from the life insurer in April 2017.

Furrer also has a past working for Winterthur Insurance, Credit Suisse and Zurich Insurance. He currently is a member of the boards of Helvetia insurance company, Inventx software maker, Responsibility micro-finance manager, as well as Julius Baer private bank.

When Furrer joined Julius Baer, he stepped down as deputy chairman at Valiant Bank. Digital Switzerland was launched in 2015 by Marc Walder, the head of media empire Ringier.
