Credit Suisse has poached from a British rival for a new head of its business in Ireland, where it has ambitious plans for expansion.

The Zurich-based bank named Sinéad Mahon to lead its business on the emerald isle, as well as heading its office in Dublin, according to the «Irish Times».

Mahon was operating chief in Ireland for British bank Barclays for the past three years, and prior to that for Denmark's Danske Bank, which hit the headlines for its involvement in a money laundering scandal.

Expansion Mode

Credit Suisse transferred staff from London to Dublin even before Britain voted to leave the European Union. The Swiss bank built up prime brokerage as well as fund services in Ireland.

As Irish head, Mahon will be looking for the 100 Irish-based staff to expand the share trading business, with Switzerland’s second-largest bank aiming for a place amongst the world’s five largest players in this field.
