A Liechtenstein-based investment adviser has poached a former UBS client advisor to help drive its global expansion plans.

LMM Investment Controlling has appointed Omar El Ashker as director business development, the specialist asset advisor said Thursday. Ashker will be responsible for its global business development and will cooperate closely with the firm local specialists.

The 38-year old Ashker brings a wealth of experience in the advising institutional clients, it said. He last worked in UBS’s asset management team as a director and advisor for institutional clients. Prior to that he was at the St. Gallen-based pensions specialist Complementa, employed in various roles.

Founded in 2000 in Vaduz, LMM also has offices in Dubai and Vienna, and this year plans to expand to Frankfurt and Sydney. The company has also had a presence in Zurich since 2014. With some 20 employees, LMM advises pension funds, public bodies, charitable organizations, businesses and families.
