Julius Baer's British expansion now includes Northern Ireland, where the Swiss private bank has inaugurated its latest office.

The Zurich-based private bank will have an office in the heart of Belfast from next year, making Julius Baer the first Swiss bank with a presence in the Northern Irish capital, Irish outlet the«Belfast Telegraph» reported on Friday.

Julius Baer has poached three private bankers from Barclays, which has proven rich hunting ground for the Swiss bank after a decision last year to expand in Britain. Julius Baer has splashed out on offices in Leeds, Manchester, Edinburgh, and Glasgow in recent months.

The Swiss bank's U.K. head, David Durlacher, said last week that Julius Baer expects Britain to remain a key financial center, even following the country's exit from the European Union.
