The former UBS trader has been taken into custody pending his extradition to Ghana.

Kweku Adoboli, the man behind a billion-franc-trading-loss at UBS, is back behind bars. The 38-year-old ex-banker was arrested in Scotland during one of his routine visits at the police station.

He may now face imminent deportation to his native Ghana, according to «The Guardian» newspaper. Adoboli, who’s lived in the U.K. for almost all his life, never applied for the U.K. citizenship and is due for deportation following his lengthy prison term.

Adoboli has been fighting extradition for months and had been granted a temporary reprieve in the autumn.
