The head of Switzerland at Goldman Sachs is already a partner at the U.S. bank. Now, he’s in for the next career step, according to information obtained by finews.com.

The New York investment bank recently upgraded its Zurich office into a branch regulated by local overseer Finma. The head of the local business, Stefan Bollinger, will now take the next step up the career ladder. He is already head of Switzerland and co-head of the Global Sale Strats & Structuring division. Goldman Sachs now appointed Bollinger co-head of Private Wealth Management in the Emea region, according to an internal memo seen by finews.com.

Bollinger will share the position with Chris French and report to Thomas «Tucker» York, the head of global Private Wealth Managment.

Ambitious Targets

The management of Goldman Sachs expects the new team leaders to drive growth in their region and to enhance the cooperation among the divisions at the giant bank.

The task looks fairly ambitious, given the healthy growth rates achieved in the Emea region in recent years. Bollinger seems to fit the bill well however. He joined the ranks of the bank in 2004 and became a partner in 2010 – as one of only very few Swiss at the firm.

Five Swiss Partners

Apart from Bollinger, the bank counts on four other Swiss partners: François-Xavier de Mallmann, Radovan Radman as well as the couple Beat and Niharika Cabiallavetta – Beat being the sone of former UBS Chairman Mathis Cabiallavetta.
