The hire of Florian Wicki for finews.ch represents a rejuventation of the Zurich-based finance website's editorial team. He was previously a political correspondent in Bern and Brussels.

Florian Wicki (pictured above) is joining the finews.ch newsroom in Zurich. The 26-year-old Swiss native studied journalism and organizational communication at Zurich University of Applied Sciences, or ZHAW, in Winterthur before graduating last year from a journalism school run by Ringier, a major Swiss publishing house.

During his studies, he was a Swiss government correspondent for Swiss tabloid «Blick» and spent three months in Brussels for website «Politico Europe».

Political, New Media Background

«We're very excited to have Florian on board, because among other things he brings political expertise to our newsroom», finews.ch editor Peter Hody said. «He will also help to position finews.ch in a more targeted way thanks to his experience with social media».

«Florian Wicki contributes substantially to the rejuvenation of our team, which is a goal. We are receptive to taking on talented journalists», finews.ch co-founder Claude Baumann said. Wicki's hire follows that of former «Bloomberg» correspondent Jeffrey Voegeli last year.
