The former chief lawyer of troubled asset manager GAM is co-founding a Swiss consulting firm. His focus remains the fund management industry.

Hans Moritz (pictured below) and Dirk Spiegel are co-founding Capstonelaw, an advisory firm for asset management, the two said in an email to finews.com.

Sudden Exit at GAM

Spiegel left his job as GAM's chief counsel 14 months ago, when the Zurich-based asset manager hired Natalie Baylis, a high-profile U.K. regulator. Baylis ended up leaving the asset manager, roiled by a whistleblowing scandal, after less than five months.

Moritz was previously with UBS, Swiss Re, and Blackrock in Switzerland, where he departed as deputy chief counsel in 2017.
