VP Bank named a new CEO following the sudden exit of Alfred Moeckli earlier this year. The new boss is a veteran Swiss wealth manager, and coming off a brief stint with Deutsche Bank in Switzerland.

The Liechtenstein-based bank is naming Paul Arni as its CEO, effective October 1, it said in a statement on Tuesday. Until then, operating chief Urs Monstein will continue to stand in as interim CEO.

Arni was most recently the Switzerland head of wealth management, a role he held just 18 months before he was ousted in a shake-up under new Swiss head Claudio de Sanctis. Previously, Arni was with Julius Baer, Credit Suisse, and UBS.

VP has been looking for a new CEO since January, when long-standing boss Alfred Moeckli left suddenly amid discord over strategy. «Paul Arni was chosen on account of his many years of front-office experience, supplemented by his extensive know-how in a wide range of specialist banking fields,» Fredy Vogt, VP Bank chairman, said.
