Credit Suisse is ramping up in Portugal, the second time the Swiss bank has reinforced the region in as many months.

The Swiss bank's Portugal private bankers are getting a new boss: Credit Suisse is promoting Miguel Seabra to market head, «Investment Europe» reported. Seabra takes over from José Maria Cazal-Ribeiro.

Credit Suisse is also hiring four bankers alongside the promotion of Seabra, who is currently head of the bank's Portugal front office: Carlos Santos, currently head of Santander's local private client business, takes over Seabra's front responsibilities and will also be co-manager of the branch.

Poaching from Local Rivals

Francisco Guedes and Paulo Tapada, private bankers from Bankinter and BNP Paribas Luxembourg, respectively. The Swiss bank is also poaching Tiago Saraiva from Bankinter for investment advice.

Last month, Credit Suisse nabbed three ultra-rich bankers for Spain and Portugal from crosstown rival UBS, as finews.com reported. Unlike Seabra and his team, the ultra-high net worth bankers are based in Geneva. Credit Suisse opened an office in Portugal office six years ago.
