Credit Suisse is lifting four private bankers off rivals to attack the Spanish market. The new recruits are specialists for the ultra-rich.

The Swiss bank is hiring Paloma Gomez de la Higuera, Jaime Beruete Concostrina, Patricia Fitzgerald, and Carlos Nunez Alfaro as private bankers in Madrid, it said in an emailed statement on Tuesday. The hires are part of a targeted effort to expand in the Iberian Pensinsula. Credit Suisse raided crosstown rival UBS earlier this month for the same market.

Gomez de la Higuera, Beruete Concostrina, Fitzgerald, and Alfaro will all tend to ultra-rich clients, or those with more than $50 million to bank. Fitzgerland is transferring from Credit Suisse's investment bank in New York, where she covered fixed income and structured lending in emerging markets.

Credit Suisse is poaching Gomez de la Higuera from Popular Banca Privada, Beruete Concostrina from Fisher Investment in London, and Nunez Alfaro from ATL Capital, a Spanish wealth manager.
