Bank Alpinum, a Liechtenstein-based institute, has hired a new chief executive officer with a past as a manager at Credit Suisse. He faces the task of putting the company back on track.

Bank Alpinum appointed Patrik Laeser is its new chief executive officer. Laeser, 47, will start on September 16, 2019. He has spent the past 17 years at Credit Suisse, working in managerial positions in wealth planning, life insurance and fiduciary services.

In his last position as a managing director, Laeser oversaw the management of 90 billion Swiss francs ($92 billion), with revenues reaching more than 100 million francs.

Executive Turnover

Laeser will take over from Juergen Bewernick, who had held the reigns since February on ad interim basis. Bewernick will leave the bank at the end of September after handing over to Laeser.

Bewernick in turn had assumed responsibility from Stephan Haeberle, who had left the firm with immediate effect.

Yousef Sherkati, a member of the supervisory board, also decided to step down. With the departure of the 73-year-old, the bank sees the change of generations completed. A change that began when former Leonteq boss Jan Schoch took a role on the board.
