Credit Suisse has hired a renowned financial analyst to rework its strategy. He will report to CEO Tidjane Thiam. Arch-rival UBS recently made a similar move for a star analyst.
Credit Suisse appointed Kinner Lakhani as head of group strategy and development, the company said in a statement on Wednesday. He will be based in Zurich and report to Chief Executive Tidjane Thiam.
Kinner is a respected expert in his field. He used to work for Deutsche Bank as head of European company research and advisory as well as head of European financials research. He had joined the German giant from Citigroup in 2015.
His Duty: Devise a Plan for Growth
In total, Kinner has more than two decades of banking experience, with stints at ABN Amro and Morgan Stanley included. Investors repeatedly nominated him as best analyst. In 2018 he topped the table in an institutional investor survey of European banks and also was one of the top 20 among the «Bloomberg Global Champion Stockpicker». He studied at the renowned London School of Economics and Political Science.
Kinner will liaise with experts from a variety of divisions and various levels to come up with a plan how the company can promote growth, expand its global presence and provide an integrated client relationship service.
UBS Star Analyst Hire
UBS, the arch rival of Credit Suisse, recently named Huw van Steenis as its new top adviser, a star analyst in his own right. He will take charge of investor relations at Switzerland’s No. 1 bank. He also assumed the chair of the new global sustainable finance committee.
