Unigestion is expanding to Scandinavia. A former Nordea banker will lead the asset manager's bid from the local bureau.

The Geneva-based independent asset manager has opened a branch in Copenhagen, according to statement released on Monday. The capital of Denmark will serve as its base for an expansion drive across Scandinavia and adjacent countries.

Per Lawӕtz Hansen, who joined the Swiss firm from Nordea in December 2018, will lead the business and organize the distribution of its services to Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Finland, Iceland and the Netherlands.

Unigestion has about $23 billion in assets under management. The company in March had opened an office in Duesseldorf.
