Swiss bank UBS has lost its head of wealth management and its senior executive officer for its Dubai branch. The veteran banker resigns after two years in the job, finews.com can reveal.
Cedric Lizin resigned from his position earlier this week, after two years with the bank. He had previously worked with Credit Suisse and Barclays.
Lizin joined UBS in September 2017, prior to which he spent ten years at Barclays Wealth Management. A veteran banker with many years of EMEA experience, he was chief operating officer for Barclays Wealth Management in Singapore. In this role, he was instrumental in building out the bank's wealth management platform in Asia as well as its onshore Japan business.
Headed For a Rival Bank?
He was also global head of Barclays wealth management business in the Middle East, Africa and Japan-based out of Dubai, before he made the move to UBS in 2o17. In his role as head of wealth management for Dubai, Lizin reported to Niels Zilkens, head of wealth management, Arabian Gulf. UBS set up its Dubai office in the Dubai International Financial Centre ten years ago.
Lizin is believed to be headed for a rival private bank and will continue to be based in the region.
