Zuercher Kantonalbank is hiring an ex-GAM star manager, finews.com has learned. The fund manager is part of a push to expand fixed income investments at its Swisscanto subsidiary.

The Zurich-based state-backed lender is hiring Enzo Puntillo (pictured below) for Swisscanto Invest, its asset management unit, according to a memorandum seen by finews.com. The 46-year-old Puntillo will be responsible for expanding emerging market debt, the Swiss bank confirmed to finews.com.

Enzo Puntillo

Puntillo was a lead fund manager for emerging markets fixed income at GAM. He was among nearly two dozen fund managers to leave the asset manager during a major crisis last year sparked by its absolute return bond business.

At Swisscanto, Puntillo will report to Benno Weber, who runs fixed income. The team is made up of roughly 30 specialists, responsible for interest rate and credit markets.
