The head of the UBS investment bank in Singapore has decided to leave the firm in favor of a high-powered position in the business with digital securities in the citystate.

Choo Oi Yee signed a contract as chief commercial officer (COO) at Istox, the company said in a statement on Thursday. The banker worked for UBS Singapore for the past six years and was in charge of the investment bank in the citystate as a managing director.

Choo spent more than two decades in banking and also worked for Morgan Stanley and Nomura Singapore. She will start in her new position in January 2020, the statement said.

At Istox, Choo will be a key member of the team responsible for driving the company’s overall business growth by building its network of investors and issuers. The company provides trading and custodial services for digital securities.

SGX, the Singapore stock exchange, and state fund Temasek are shareholders of Istox. The company in September hired Lim Mei Shen, a deputy director of the Monetary Authority of Singapore, as its new chief compliance officer.
