Ex-UBS banker Werner Peyer recently was awarded an order by Prince Albert II of Monaco upon leaving the Compagnie Monégasque de Banque.

Until recently, Werner Peyer was one of few Swiss bankers in charge of a company abroad. The ex-UBS manager took charge of Compagnie Monégasque de Banque in 2010 and developed the firm, which is owned by Italy’s Mediobanca, into a powerful, broadly diversified bank.

In May, Peyer announced that he would step down from his position as CEO. Francesco Grosoli took over and Peyer remained as non-executive vice president for a number of months. Now he will step down from this position as well.

Female Banking Academy

Before leaving, Prince Albert II of Monaco awarded the banker with the order of Saint-Charles for his services to the financial market of Monaco and the principality. Four years ago, Peyer had launched the women and finance academy aimed at promoting female bankers through a one-year course in portfolio simulation and other similar core activities.

Peyer may soon be back to Zurich more often, where he also enjoys a strong network in the banking community. He also published regularly on finews.first.
